2005 - This is our first year trying to be Purple Martin Landlords in Ramsey, MN.
2006 - This is year 2, we have changed the location of our T-14 house and have trimmed and removed trees to make this location a little bit more attractive for the martins.
| So far we have had several
purple martins check out the T-14.
The birds have landed on the house, entered each hole (14) and made quite a bit of martin chatter!
The picture to the right is a sub adult male that was attracted to our T-14 by the decoys he is perched next to and the purple martin dawn song recording playing in the background. This martin visited our house for about 3 days and then moved on. Our best guess as to why this martin did not nest here was due to his inability to attract a mate other than his plastic buddies! |
We hope this martin will come back to see us next year and find a girlfriend! Click on Picture to enlarge!
