Bow Tune for the palm os
Current Version - 1.0 - 3/20/2001 Current registered version allows you to enter in Bow manufacturer and model, bow draw weight, arrow speed, arrow weight and date. Info is saved to a database for future retrieval. The current version also allows you to perform quick calculations without saving. History - I was looking on the internet for an application for my Visor (pda that utilizes the palm os manufactured by Handspring) that calculated an arrow's kinetic energy. I thought that it would be nice when I am at the archery range to be able to figure out what this is and be able to save it to a database for future use when hunting, etc. Much to my dismay, I only found java versions for the PC but nothing for a PDA. That was the birth of Bow Tune. Q&A - Q. What is Bow Tune? A. Bow tune is a program that calculates an arrows Kinetic energy. Q. What is Kinetic energy and why should I be concerned about it? A. Webster's definition is: The energy possessed by a body because of its motion, equal to one half the mass of the body times the square of its speed. In the Archery world: This information is useful to determine how much power the arrow will have when hitting the game or target. More Kinetic Energy means more penetration, thus showing the importance of having a balance between arrow weight and arrow speed. Q. How much kinetic energy is needed for hunting? A. For whitetail size animals, it is recommended to have 50 to 60 foot pounds of kinetic energy. For larger animals such as Elk, it is recommended to have 65 foot pounds of kinetic energy or more.
